Ella Gershon
Turning Passion for Sports into Purposeful Work
About Me
Hi, my name is Ella Gershon. I am a sophomore at the University of Michigan pursuing a degree in Sport Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I am passionate about the intersections of sports and business, specifically client relations, agency work, and branding. On campus, I am an active member of the Michigan Sports Law Group (MSLG), Sport Business Inclusion Community (SBIC), and Michigan Women Empowerment in Sport & Entertainment (MWESE). Beyond the classroom, through my experiences as a retail associate, co-founder of a small business, and a student board member for Memorial Sloan Kettering, I have developed strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills while learning the importance of collaboration and relationship building. I am eager to gain hands-on experience and am always looking for opportunities to learn more about the industry.

Feeding the Fans at LA28
For 217: Business Communications we were tasked with developing an evidence based recommendation to enhance the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Centering our proposal around food as a driver of fan engagement and revenue, my group proposed intentionally curated Olympic Food Boxes to showcase the culinary diversity of Los Angeles and reflect on its Olympic history.
My Work
Closing the Awareness Gap in Metro Detroit Youth Tennis
For my SM 246: Principles of Marketing final presentation my group was tasked with developing a sport marketing plan to increase youth tennis participation in Metro Detroit. We identified cost perception and awareness as the primary barriers of participation which led us to design our project of "First Serve Saturdays" a free, beginner clinic to bridge the gap between awareness and enrollment. Our proposal included an analysis, marketing mix & segmentation, and our execution strategy with a $5,000 budget.
Rethinking the Advising System at Michigan: The MAISS Proposal
For my SM 101 Public Speaking course I was tasked with creating a proposal aimed towards improving the Academic Advising departments performance and student engagement. My group focused on creating an AI-powered academic advising program 'MAISS'. Through research, we identified key gaps in the system and proposed a hybrid solution: 24/7 AI chatbot and proactive student outreach in order to improve response times and personalize the advising program at the University of Michigan.
